Awards
Croatian Museum Association awards the Annual Award for the outstanding contribution in museum profession and the biennial Pavao Ritter Vitezović Award for Life Achievement. CMA grants the awards to Croatian citizens, and in rare cases to foreign citizens for the exceptional contribution to museum profession in Croatia.
The Annual Award is awarded to persons, groups and institutions for published, exhibited or in some other way publicly presented achievements of museum profession in the past year.
The Life Achievement Award Pavao Ritter Vitezović is awarded to single persons for the outstanding and lasting contribution to museum profession.
Sections
Having renewed its activities, the Association established the Section for the Museum Education and Cultural Action, and recently the Section for Cultural Tourism. The Section for Museum Education has been organizing the annual museum game - the action for children in the celebration of the International Museums Day for many years. Each year the action is devoted to a special theme, with the objective to popularize museums and develop the habit of visiting museums amongst the young audience.
The Section for Museum Education and Cultural Action also organized three international meetings of museum educators which dealt with the subjects of the status of museum education in the museum, educational and communicative role of the museum, museums and their visitors.
Publications
CMA publishes four issues a year of its journal "The News of Museum Workers and Conservators". It also publishes a booklet to accompany the annual action of the museum educators.
CMA also publishes the proceedings of the meetings of museum educators and co-publishes the proceedings of the seminar "Archives, Libraries, Museums… the Possibilities of Cooperation in the Environment of the Global Information Infrastructure".
Occasionally CMA publishes booklets, such as guidelines or manuals for museum professionals.
Symposia and seminars
CMA organizes the seminar „Archives, Libraries, Museums… the Possibilities of Cooperation in the Environment of Global Information Infrastructure“ once in three years, and in November 2005 the seminar is going to convene for the 9th time.
Lectures and Travel
CMA organizes lectures by museum experts from home and abroad. It also organizes trips in order to provide the opportunity for museum professionals to meet their colleagues and see the museums in Croatia and abroad.
Cultural Tourism
The initiative of CMA for the project of establishing a pool of experts in various professions (tourism, marketing, museum, education) has been recently set in motion with the aim to advance the touristic, museum and conservational offer of the City of Zagreb.
